In other words, he was not someone I needed to worry about.

Kyleius came out, followed by Phyllen. The guards who were already outside greeted him with a casual nod.
Phyllen returned the greeting with a gesture and opened his mouth.
“It still seems strange, even after thinking about it. That monsters are descending. It hasn’t been long since the subjugation ended.”
The guards who had come out earlier were knights from the Lebyche Order, gathered to accompany Kyleius to the border of Keduark.
Keduark was a region bordering Hesera, the Crustel Duke’s territory, known as the Land of Death.
It was an uninhabitable place. Not only were there many steep terrains, but it was also densely populated with monsters due to the region’s unique energy.
Hesera, located close to Keduark, was no different. Monsters would often descend and wreak havoc in the villages, and it was common for them to harm people.
But that was all before Cayleus had settled here. Upon receiving the Hesera region from the Emperor, Cayleus immediately launched a campaign to subjugate the monsters.
It took a full year to completely drive the monsters out of the Hesera region.

“And if they come down again?”
“Send them back.”
“What if the escaped ones bring their friends?”
Cayleus shut his mouth at the last question. There was a lot to say, but he decided not to say more since the situation was what it was.
He just thought, he must be unhappy about being called out so early in the morning.
“Take two days off from training next week. Is that all right?”
“Yes! I’ll do my best! My lord!”
The burly man, Bart, shouted loudly. Cayleus’s mouth twitched at Bart’s booming answer.
In the relaxed atmosphere, Bart laughed heartily and slapped the shoulder of a slender man standing next to him.
“Crissy, you haven’t forgotten the bet?”
“What bet?”
“I told you, didn’t I? A hundred gold to the one who takes the most heads. Have you forgotten?”
“Well, I don’t talk to people who faint at lower ranks.”
“What, you bastard?”
The mature warriors began to chatter one by one, and the previously quiet surroundings quickly became noisy.
Yan, who had been standing at the very front, handed Cayleus a note he had received from the messenger.

Cayleus took the reins.

It was a noise that did not fit the current scene.
It wasn’t hard to guess who it was, but why that footstep was here was something that couldn’t be known.
